Any type of stress starts with the mind not being able to cope. Then comes the symptoms... I suggest you see a professional simply because the symptoms are unique for every person. Yes there are similarities but never is two cases identical. The time frame you are looking for depends on the type personality and the actual event causing the stress.

some people respond immediately to trauma they experience, and with this reaction, are tell-tale symptoms of PTSD

Other people react days or weeks later when the realization of what happened sinks-in.

Yet others may not react with PTSD symptoms until years later, when faced with some additional or similar form of stress. This can be a part of Dissociative disorders, where the person's memory of an event, and emotional reaction to that event do not surface until years after the event.

It depends how long last the shock.
The appearance of PTSD could be after few minutes or even few years.
