If you are one of the road warriors who drives with retribution and fury in their hearts? If so then you are in luck.

This article gives you 5 constructive ideas to contest road rage.

1 Take it Easy

When I was a boy my Uncle used to take the kids on trips to see the sights and expand our horizons. He was a , but he did drive very slowly. We were constantly saying “Hurry – Up” – We want to get there quickly. His answer was always ,, if you are in a , we should have left an hour earlier. He was right.
If you drive aggressively and getting impatient with other road users, you probably feel you are in a rush.
When your body does the same. Everything gets faster – muscle tension, heart rate and blood pressure. You feel you are ready for action if anybody gets in your way. Regardless you use the anger to clear the way.
Stop rushing and start relaxing.Work out how long it takes to get to your destination and add an extra 1 minutes for every 20 minutes driving time. Try driving without checking the time

2 Relax A Little

Are you gripping the steering wheel? If you are an angry driver, you are using the “death grip”.
Relax your grip and you will find out how much more relaxed you will be. Put your hands round the steering wheel as if you were holding a soft boiled egg . The change in physical tension will is instantaneous. The relaxation you feel in your hands, travels through your whole body Give it a try!

3 Focus on the Journey rather than the Destination

Violent drivers all have blinkered vision. They only visualize on one thing – the destination, or where they are going. If you are an angry driver and anything gets between you and your destination – look out. If you are looking directly ahead, your mind is racing away in front. You are on a mission.
if you can relate to this, you are missing the bigger picture ; The Journey!. And life is all about the journey – whether you are driving the children to school or going to the shops – its all about the journey. Relax on your journey, look at the people and you will be a lot less angry.

4 Be the other driver

Do you find yourself being the person who roars past the little old man who driving under the speed limit. Are you shaking fists, and shouting “Oi they shouldn’t let you drive, old fool”. Think about this: Eventually this could be you. Unless your anger doesn’t kill you first! Try to visualize yourself as the other driver. Then ask “How would I want them to act toward me?”. Not with rage I am sure.

5 Be Positive

Every problem has a silver lining. If someone ahead of you drives slowly, you will end up feeling less harassed. That’s good! If someone is driving slow and he is making you drive slowly then maybe he is preventing you from being issued with a speeding ticket. That’s good! Thinking this way is all good. Next time you feel road rage approaching ask yourself “what good can become of this”. Then, when you realise its not worth it, you can relax. And olny then.
